Editorial policy

Who writes RulerCue, how figures are sourced and reviewed, and what we do when we get something wrong.

Who is responsible

Every page is written and measured by a named author and checked by a named reviewer before it is published. Both are shown on each page with a link to their profile, their experience, and how to reach them. We do not use anonymous or rotating personas, and we do not publish content without a person's name attached to it.

How we source figures

Where a size or weight is fixed by a maker or a standards body, we cite that source directly rather than re-measure. Where it is not fixed, we measure the object by hand with a dual-scale steel ruler and record an exact figure with a tolerance. Every object carries a label saying which of the two it is, and each page ends with a numbered list of sources. See our how we measure and sources policy pages for the detail.

How we review

Before a page goes live, a second person re-checks every figure against its cited source and signs off the last-verified date shown on the page. We recheck popular pages on a schedule and update the verified date when we do.

Corrections

If a figure is wrong, we fix it and record the change in our public corrections log with the date. A corrected figure is a win, not an embarrassment, and the log is there so you can see the process working. To report an error, use the contact page.

Independence and advertising

Our figures are not influenced by any advertiser or affiliate relationship. Where a page contains an affiliate or sponsored link, it is disclosed on that page. A commercial relationship never changes a measured number.

AI use

We do not publish AI-generated measurements or AI placeholder images presented as real. Photographs are real objects shot in house with a ruler in frame. Any tool that assists drafting is followed by human measurement, sourcing and review before publish.

Short version: real named people, sourced figures, a second-pass review, and a public log of every fix.
